CCTV images released after restaurant staff threatened with a sledgehammer

Do you recognise this man?

We would like to speak with him about an incident in which staff at an Indian Restaurant were threatened with a sledgehammer.

It was reported that at around 8.25pm on 23 July this year, a man entered the Spice Garden on Melchet Road, Southampton, and asked if he could buy cigarettes, but left when he was told that cigarettes were not sold there.

Around 15 to 20 minutes later the man returned and became abusive towards staff whilst carrying a sledgehammer. He then threw a bar stool out of the restaurant, causing it to become damaged beyond repair.

We want to identify the man in the CCTV images and are hoping someone will recognise him from the tattoo on his right arm.

If you know this person, or have any information to assist our investigation, please call us on 101, quoting 44180278871.

Alternatively, you can call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
