40 million contract with Ferrovie Nord Milano for new TSR
Hitachi Rail Italy signed a contract, for 40 million euro, for the manufacturing of new TSR (regional trains) that will implement the fleet of Ferrovie Nord Milano. HRI will realize 4 vehicles with 4 cars, which will be delivered to the customer between July 2017 and November 2017.
Specifically this is a supply of 10 trains (for a total value of 102 million euro) entrusted to ATI which HRI has the mandate and which also includes Titagarth Firema Adler (who will manufacture the other 6).
The TSR is a double-deck train, designed since 2004, with distributed power, characterized by motorized cars, which allows a flexibility in the composition and high performance in operation.
Over the years the comfort was improved, and among the other were installed internal circuit video cameras against vandalism and for the control by the on board crew.
The 4 cars configuration, so-called "double-deck", allows to carry more than 500 seated people and the same amount standing. Another feature of the TSR is the great acceleration and the powerful release at the departure.
The length of each car is 26 meters and the maximum speed is 140 km/h.
