Warm temperatures speed up melting ICEHOTEL

An exciting metamorphosis is currently taking place in Jukkasjärvi. This weekend, the temperature in northern Sweden reached some 20 degrees Celsius - in these conditions ice and snow melts, and fast. ICEHOTEL, which closed for the winter season in mid-April, is now returning to its origins - the Torne River. See the latest images of the melting process here.

There is an on-going pre-study concerning the possibility to build a mosque of ice and snow at ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden. The idea arose during the winter of 2010 and the initiator is Peo Strömberg, CEO of Globile Ventures, Sweden. A decision on building an ice mosque has not yet been made.
