Dulwich Picture Gallery has partnered with imagineear to offer visitors mediaPacker™ tours to their permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.
Embarking upon its third century, the picture collection created initially by Sir Francis Bourgeois for King Stanislaus of Poland and bequeathed to Dulwich College in 1811, will be interpreted for the first time on imagineear's revolutionary multimedia guides. Dulwich Picture Gallery chose the mediaPacker™ by imagineear because it is so intuitive for the visitor to use, and so simple for onsite staff to operate. Visitors will be able to explore both the permanent and temporary exhibitions with the new multimedia guides and learn more about the artists and works on display. imagineear has built the tour interface design based on initial content for the collections produced by staff at the gallery.
The new guides were launched on February 16th with introductions to key works from the gallery's permanent collection as well as the current temporary exhibitions entitled 'Ragamala Paintings from India: Poetry, Passion, Song' and 'Van Dyck in Sicily'.
The mediaPacker™ answered an urgent need for a handheld player optimised for the visitor experience, at a reasonable pricepoint, and which could operate seamlessly with pre-existing as well as new content. The project represents an equally exciting development for imagineear and the mediaPacker™. The mediaPacker™ is on hand to offer bespoke content and learning to visitors to another highly prestigious London gallery. But as exciting for imagineear is the long-term partnership with an in-house content team committed to exploring together the ways in which the mediaPacker™ and mobile technologies can contribute to the gallery's outreach and educational work.
Andrew Nugée, imagineear's CEO, commented: "It is a great honour for imagineear to be working closely with one of the leading galleries in London. We welcome the Dulwich Picture Gallery's commitment to mobile interpretation, and to helping their visitors learn and enjoy more from their visit. All of us at imagineear look forward to playing a key part in this project, and to developing our partnership with the Dulwich Picture Gallery over the coming months."
