In co-operation with the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Museum De Lakenhal will present the major upcoming exhibition, Lucas van Leyden and the Renaissance. imagineear has been engaged to produce an audio visual tour for the exhibition, which will assist in painting the even greater picture behind the exceptional artwork on display.
For the first time ever, the main Renaissance artist of Northern Netherlands will be showcased against a background of his contemporaries. The 250 works of an exceptionally high standard belong to the collections of both Dutch and international museums, including the Louvre, the British Museum and the Metropolitan Museum. Most of the artworks will be on display in the Netherlands for the first time, and this exhibition fits well into De Lakenhal’s policy to offer high-quality exhibitions of national or international significance based on sources from Leiden.
Museum de Lakenhal has chosen imagineear as their audio tour provider for the exhibition. The audio guide will be offered free of charge to all visitors, and will form part of the overall exhibition experience. Languages on offer will be Dutch and English, and the tour will cover the majority of works on display. Whilst all aspects of the collection will be highlighted, there will be opportunities to access further information in greater detail through various 2nd levels on the audio guide.
To strengthen the audio tour, images of works that have not been included in the exhibition, alongside details that are otherwise not easy to find, will be presented in the audio tour, thus deepening the visitors’ understanding of the various stories and techniques. The collaboration with the Egidius Quartet, who are currently recording all the choir music from the famous and unique Leiden Choir Books of the 16th Century Pieterskerk, will result in the books going on display, and open on relevant pages. The audio tour will feature recordings from the productions - a fitting and highly relevant choice to accompany the narration.
"We have chosen to work with imagineear because of their experience and knowledge of audio guides and the museum world, as well as for their competitive pricing. I look forward to seeing and hearing the result!" Christiaan Vogelaar, Curator of the exhibition and Chief Curator of Old Masters.
