CEO of Malaysian Land Public Transport Commission to attend IRITS Rail Summit 2013

International Rail Infrastructure and Technology Summit (IRITS) is proud to announce the participation of Mr Mohd Nur Kamal, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia's Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) at IRITS 2013, which takes place in Berlin on 6-8 November 2013.

SPAD is the statutory body responsible for planning, policies, regulatory oversight and the enforcement of service standards in public transport in Malaysia. Public transport has been identified as a crucial area for growth in Malaysia and SPAD is expected to deliver improvements that will drive the country’s economic transformation. Major SPAD projects in the pipeline include the high-speed rail link to Singapore, a rapid transit system from Johor Bahru to Singapore and an express rail link extension to Kuala Lumpur’s new airport terminal (KLIA2) amongst many other extensions and modernisations.

Mr Kamal has been the Chief Executive Officer of SPAD since the organisation was founded in 2010, a position from which he reports directly to the Prime Minister. He has previously worked at CNA Financial Corp, Accenture and AT Kearney and also served in the Malaysian Ministries of Transport and Higher Education.

Mr Kamal will be a VIP guest at IRITS 2013 and will take part in business meetings with participating technology solution providers as well as in networking functions during the summit.

Mr Kamal commented: "I’m looking forward to learning and exchanging ideas on new and innovative ways of transforming Malaysia’s public transport space. Through constructive debate and dialogue in Berlin, I am hoping to effect significant change moving forward when rolling out public transportation infrastructures and projects in Malaysia."

The International Rail Infrastructure and Technology Summit (IRITS) brings together senior executives from the world's key rail operators and infrastructure management companies as well as senior government officials. The summit will feature a conference programme given by industry leaders, one-to-one business meetings with select solution providers and evening networking functions. IRITS 2013 will take place on 6-8 November 2013 in Berlin, Germany and is organised by FIGevents.
