Director General of the International Union of Railways to speak at International Railway Summit

Press Release   •   Oct 20, 2016 14:00 BST

International Railway Journal (IRJ) and IRITS Events Ltd are honoured to announce the participation of International Union of Railways’ (UIC) Director General, Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, as a keynote speaker at the 4th International Railway Summit, taking place on 15-17 February 2017 in Paris.

Mr Loubinoux was appointed Director General of UIC in March 2009, prior to which he was Chairman and CEO of SNCF International. He will be speaking in the keynote session on “What does the future hold for rail?” at the International Railway Summit.

UIC represents the entire global railway community, which encompasses 1 million km of infrastructure, 7 million members of staff and a significant volume of traffic, providing mobility for 7 billion people around the world. Their main aim is to promote rail transport at a global level, while meeting current and future challenges of mobility and sustainable development.

Mr Loubinoux’s talk will focus on how rail is increasingly relevant in a world that is becoming more divided and is suffering the full force of an enduring economic crisis. It will address how rail is recognised as a primary mode of mobility by those who decide policy, major investors, and by the operators themselves and how world forecasts on trade developments show promising perspectives for rail business at global level.

International Railway Summit’s conference programme will focus on the future of railways from a technological, organisational and creative point of view, sharing knowledge and proposing solutions to the challenges of enhancing passenger experience and bolstering rail’s competitivity within the transport market.

Organisations and individuals interested in learning more about International Railway Summit and about how they can participate in the event can visit or contact the organisers, IRJ and IRITS Events.

International Railway Summit is a meeting of senior executives representing the world’s key rail operators, rail infrastructure management companies, national and local governments, rolling stock manufacturers and a wide range of solution providers.

International Railway Summit provides a 'matchmaking' service between rail industry leaders ('buyers') and technical experts ('suppliers'), based on buyer delegates' project requirements and the proven expertise of large and small suppliers that we have carefully handpicked. Based on this matchmaking, buyer delegates attend one-to-one consultation sessions with suitable suppliers during the annual summit.

In addition to the one-to-one meetings, delegates also attend a conference programme given by key industry leaders and experts and network over lunches and dinners with their counterparts and industry colleagues from all over the world. International Railway Summit is co-hosted by International Railway Journal and IRITS Events and will take place on 15-17 February 2017 in Paris, France.
