The EU Agency for Railways is theagencyof theEuropean Union(EU) which sets mandatory requirements for railways and manufacturers throughout Europe.
The Agency contributes, on technical matters, to the implementation of European Union legislation. Their mission is to improve the competitiveness and passenger experience of the railway sector. They wish to achieve this by enhancing the level of interoperability of rail systems, implementing a common approach to safety on the European railway system, and contributing to creating a frontier-less, high safety, Single European Railway Area.
Dr Doppelbauer commented: “We appreciate the business-oriented view of the International Railway Summit – putting the customer first, in order to make railways more competitive. The European Union Agency for Railways strives to bring the same approach to the regulatory framework for the Single European Rail Area: a market made for customers, with lean and smart regulation, ensuring that rail will remain the backbone of a sustainable and efficient shared transport system in the digital age.”
International Railway Summit’s conference programme will focus on the future of railways from a technological, organisational and creative point of view, sharing knowledge and proposing solutions to the challenges of enhancing passenger experience and bolstering rail’s competitivity within the transport market.

International Railway Summit is a meeting of senior executives representing the world’s key rail operators, rail infrastructure management companies, national and local governments, rolling stock manufacturers and a wide range of solution providers.
International Railway Summit provides a 'matchmaking' service between rail industry leaders ('buyers') and technical experts ('suppliers'), based on buyer delegates' project requirements and the proven expertise of large and small suppliers that we have carefully handpicked. Based on this matchmaking, buyer delegates attend one-to-one consultation sessions with suitable suppliers during the annual summit.
In addition to the one-to-one meetings, delegates also attend a conference programme given by key industry leaders and experts and network over lunches and dinners with their counterparts and industry colleagues from all over the world. International Railway Summit is co-hosted by International Railway Journal and IRITS Events and will take place on 15-17 February 2017 in Paris, France.
