International Railway Journal (IRJ) and IRITS Events Ltd are pleased to welcome East Japan Railway Company to the 4th International Railway Summit, taking place on 15-17 February 2017 in Paris.
East Japan Railway Company (JR East) is the largest rail operator in Japan and primarily serves the Kanto and Tohoku regions, including the country’s capital, Tokyo. They carry over 17 million passengers every day on its 7,500km network.
One of JR East’s main aims is to halve its carbon emissions by 2030, while also focusing on countermeasures against natural disasters such as earthquakes and heavy rainfall. The company also plans to develop their large terminals, transforming them into attractive international hubs.
In Europe, JR East is engaging in rail projects such as High Speed Two (HS2), for which the company acts as consultants in the construction of over 500km of a high-speed network from London to northern England. They have also been shortlisted to run the UK’s West Midlands rail franchise together with the Dutch operator Abellio.
JR East will be represented at the International Railway Summit by Kenji Murasaki, Deputy Director of JR East’s Brussels Branch, as well as Masakazu Amemiya and Masaaki Ikeno, both Senior Managers of Brussels Branch. The Brussels Branch of JR East was established in February 2013, and is responsible for the company’s European affairs including procurement.
Mr Murasaki commented: “International Railway Summit is a well-organized event to get such a variety of opinions and views from the international railway sector. I believe that joining this summit is the best way to be acquainted with a mutual understanding between both buyers and suppliers.”
JR East’s delegates will take part in one-to-one consultation meetings with participating technology solution providers as well as in networking functions throughout the summit. International Railway Summit is an exclusive platform for rail sector leaders to get free bespoke consultation for their future projects based on a unique matchmaking service between buyers' requirements and experts' knowledge.
International Railway Summit is a meeting of senior executives representing the world’s key rail operators, rail infrastructure management companies, national and local governments, rolling stock manufacturers and a wide range of solution providers.
International Railway Summit provides a 'matchmaking' service between rail industry leaders ('buyers') and technical experts ('suppliers'), based on buyer delegates' project requirements and the proven expertise of large and small suppliers that we have carefully handpicked. Based on this matchmaking, buyer delegates attend one-to-one consultation sessions with suitable suppliers during the annual summit.
In addition to the one-to-one meetings, delegates also attend a conference programme given by key industry leaders and experts and network over lunches and dinners with their counterparts and industry colleagues from all over the world. International Railway Summit is co-hosted by International Railway Journal and IRITS Events and will take place on 15-17 February 2017 in Paris, France.
