International Railway Journal (IRJ) and IRITS Events Ltd are delighted to announce the participation of Shift2Rail’s Executive Director, Carlo Borghini, as a speaker at the 4th International Railway Summit, taking place on 15-17 February 2017 in Paris.
Mr Borghini took up the post of Executive Director of Shift2Rail in February 2016, prior to which he had been Director of Corporate Services at the European Defence Agency (EDA). He will be keynote speaker in the session “Is Shift2Rail a game changer for rail?” at the International Railway Summit.
Shift2Rail is a Joint Undertaking established in 2014 by the European Commission and member companies from across the railway industry, and it seeks to accelerate the integration of new and advanced technologies into the European network. Its main aims are to increase reliability and punctuality, double railway capacity, reduce congestion and CO2 emissions, halve the cost of infrastructure and rolling stock and maintain Europe’s global market leadership.
The undertaking now has 19 associated members, including railway operators and infrastructure managers, infrastructure and rolling stock suppliers and contractors, IT specialists, engineering service providers, high-tech SMEs, and research organisations and universities.
In December 2015 Shift2Rail published their first calls for proposals, worth €170 million.
International Railway Summit’s conference programme will focus on the future of railways from a technological, organisational and creative point of view, sharing knowledge and proposing solutions to the challenges of enhancing passenger experience and bolstering rail’s competitivity within the transport market.
Organisations and individuals interested in learning more about International Railway Summit and about how they can participate in the event can visit www.irits.org or contact the organisers, IRJ and IRITS Events.
International Railway Summit is a meeting of senior executives representing the world’s key rail operators, rail infrastructure management companies, national and local governments, rolling stock manufacturers and a wide range of solution providers.
International Railway Summit provides a 'matchmaking' service between rail industry leaders ('buyers') and technical experts ('suppliers'), based on buyer delegates' project requirements and the proven expertise of large and small suppliers that we have carefully handpicked. Based on this matchmaking, buyer delegates attend one-to-one consultation sessions with suitable suppliers during the annual summit.
In addition to the one-to-one meetings, delegates also attend a conference programme given by key industry leaders and experts and network over lunches and dinners with their counterparts and industry colleagues from all over the world. International Railway Summit is co-hosted by International Railway Journal and IRITS Events and will take place on 15-17 February 2017 in Paris, France.
