International Railway Journal (IRJ) and IRITS Events Ltd are delighted to announce the participation of Trenitalia, Italy's primary train operator, at International Railway Summit 2016, which takes place in Vienna from 17-19 February.
Trenitalia is a subsidiary of the Ferrovie dello Stato Group, which is owned by the Italian Government. It is responsible for operating passenger (regional, medium and long-haul) and freight services throughout Italy.
Trenitalia is one of the leading rail carriers in Europe, running around 7,300 trains per day. Its high-speed services - comprising the Frecciarossa, Frecciargento and Frecciabianca brands – have revolutionised how people move around the Italian peninsula.
Over the last few years, Trenitalia has developed its international connections, operating night services along the Paris – Milan – Venice and Paris – Milan – Rome routes with Thello in France, freight services with TX Logistik to guarantee connections in Germany and services across Europe through branches in Austria, Switzerland and Sweden.
Vincenzo Soprano, Trenitalia CEO, will attend International Railway Summit 2016. Before joining Ferrovie dello Stato, Mr Soprano gained extensive experience in national and international industrial groups at Agip, energy company ENI (Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi) and Genese. He joined Ferrovie dello Stato in 2001, and until 2006 was head of group business development, among other roles. He has been CEO since September 2006 and, since August 2009, President of TRENORD, managing company for local transportation in the Lombardia region.
Mr Soprano will take part in one-to-one consultation meetings with participating technology solution providers as well as in networking functions throughout the summit, which takes place at Palais Hansen Kempinski in Vienna on 17-19 February 2016.

International Railway Summit is a meeting of senior executives representing the world’s key rail operators, rail infrastructure management companies, national and local governments, rolling stock manufacturers and a wide range of solution providers.
International Railway Summit provides a 'matchmaking' service between rail industry leaders ('buyers') and technical experts ('suppliers'), based on buyer delegates' project requirements and the proven expertise of large and small suppliers that we have carefully handpicked. Based on this matchmaking, buyer delegates attend one-to-one consultation sessions with suitable suppliers during the annual summit.
In addition to the one-to-one meetings, delegates also attend a conference programme given by key industry leaders and experts and network over lunches and dinners with their counterparts and industry colleagues from all over the world. International Railway Summit 2016 is co-hosted by International Railway Journal and IRITS Events and will take place on 17-19 February 2016 in Vienna, Austria.
