Local Recommendation: Haus, Victoria Park

Haus, 39 Morpeth Rd, London E9 7LD

It is unsurprising that a trendy, upscale shop such as Haus should be found in picturesque Victoria Park. The area is one of London’s hidden gems, being made up exclusively of genuinely cool, original and chic places to eat, drink, shop, or just wander around. Haus, with its slick exterior and huge windows, fits right in amongst the rustic looking coffee shops and inviting restaurants.

Haus is a physical and online design shop offering contemporary furniture, lighting and homeware. It is run by Andrew and Jane Tye, who both have experience in the design industry. Jane trained as a sculptor and Andrew used to be a furniture designer.

Inside, the shop has a clean, light and airy feel. All of the items are neatly and spaciously dotted around, inviting customers to browse at their leisure and easily imagine what things might look like in their own living rooms.

Jane and Andrew carefully select everything that they wish to sell at Haus. Modern, valuable, handy, functional – their choice is based less on what’s considered to be ‘in’ and trendy, and more about what’s practical, good quality and of course aesthetically pleasing.

The items come from an eclectic range of sources: from prestigious European design brands and globally recognised designers, to lesser known producers and independent designers. Brands include the imaginative and cute All Lovely Stuff, the timeless Eleanor Pritchard, prestigious Matthew Hilton and many, many more.

Whether you’re looking for a new addition to your house or office, or want to spoil a friend or family member, Haus is a great place to find unique, quirky and practical pieces of homeware, furniture and lighting. Even if you’re not looking to purchase anything, it’s still worth stopping by the shop simply to ogle at all of the glorious, funky items and leave with some incredible interior inspiration. Don’t forget to explore the rest of Victoria Park whilst you’re there.

Last time we popped into Haus, we made note of two of our personal favourite things for you to look out for. They include: amazing Arabia Finland Moomin mugs, and cute tree top spinners (brand: Areaware) for the little ones.

We hope these delightful pieces are still there by the time you visit. Either way, we have no doubt you’ll find your own favourites in no time.
