This Saturday (13th July) there is going to be another Holders Lane consultation event. This time the event is hosted by the Friends of the Fields group, and is sponsored by the Big Lottery. The event will be held at Holders Lane, Moseley (near the Red Gra pitch) and runs from 12-6pm. The main purpose of the day is to ask people what they would like to see happen at the site in the future, but there will also be a range of different activities - music workshops, face painting, storytelling, old school games, junior golf, zumba, tai-chi, bushcraft, circus skills, volleyball and a bouncy castle.
This latest event has been organised at the request of Birmingham City Council in an attempt to resolve the issues surrounding the future of the Holders Lane site in Moseley. Two years ago Kingsbridge Community Sports began a similar consultation, with more than 700 people participating so far. Birmingham City Council have recently issued a statement in which they confirm that the views of local people and key stakeholders will be considered before any decision is made on any future developments.
Please do come along on Saturday and give your views on the future of Holders Lane. Its really important that all sectors of the local community are represented in this latest consultation. There is a real opportunity here for an exciting community initiative to be developed in partnership with Birmingham City Council, safe-guarding a much loved recreational site for the benefit of dog-walkers, summer picnickers and family recreation whilst developing much needed facilities for the benefit of current and future generations of sports-men & women and young people.
