Rail Industry Responds to Government Announcement on Train Fares

Responding to the announcement in today’s autumn statement on regulated rail fares, including season tickets, Michael Roberts, director general of the Rail Delivery Group which speaks on behalf of the rail industry, said:

“This is good news for commuters. We strongly support the government’s decision to scrap January’s above inflation average increase in season tickets and other regulated fares. This will encourage even more passengers to travel by rail, helping to sustain already significant investment in more trains, faster services and better stations.”

Following today’s announcement, train companies will be re-pricing 2014 fares. These will be available to customers in time for January 2nd 2014 when the fares come into effect.
