Allow yourself to get lost in art and experience.This August, the Mess Companion Issue has teamed up with Sheffield Hallam University to invite you to experience the life of artist Marcel Schreur.As you choose your path through a virtual world of towering sculptures and relived memories, you will see life through the eyes of another.

Access space Sheffield, the digital technology art gallery, hosts an exciting new VR based artwork this month. Access have taken a former city centre retail space on Fitzalan Square and turned it into a gallery space which is to become an interactive VR exhibition at the end of this month. The exhibition is called “Life is Beautiful - Always” and is an exploration into a unique life experience.

Marcel Schreur, the original Dutch artist works and lives in Kingston upon Thames. Having survived cancer twice, coming back from vascular dementia and still heavily affected by the diseases, he is bleeding his experiences and love for life onto the canvas and into his sculptures. This Spring he will bring over 40 of his works to a perfect platform, All Saints Church, the place where England began

Kingston based Marcel Schreur saw his sculpture take a third prize at the prestigious London Art Biennale.120 artists from 40 countries gathered in the Chelsea Old Town Hall last week to celebrate the gift of art.Thousands people flooded into this beautiful venue and impressive art exhibition over the course of 5 days,opened by the Mayor of Kensington Chelsea,Councillor Mrs. Elizabeth Rutherford

Last Sunday at the closing ceremony of the National Open Art Competition at the Royal College of Art in Central London. The video testimonial "Life is beautiful. Always" was shortlisted in the moving image category of this important art venue. The main characters in the clip were evidently happy, very happy. The video, hailed as a 'legacy to life"would not have been possible without LIBa team.

Marcel Scheur,the original Dutch artist,is amazed by the climate-change deal struck in Paris this weekend."It is wonderful that decades of top level negotiations have led to these historic agreements".He goes on"More important then an agreement is the realisation by individuals that we have to treat the earth as a living organism which we hurt by our behaviour and lack of care."Sorry Earth"He says

"Marcel Schreur, the original Dutch artist, will be creating a "Tree of Life" mural at Anchor's Molesey Carehome. He will be assisted by three residents, former artists Janet(77), Sheila(78) and Brian(80). Schreur will be guided by their experience and patience. He says "They are an important source of inspiration and timeless experience. To make them happy with this gesture warms my heart."

After a very busy first third of the year,with work shown in Central London,the US,Japan and Italy,I am now exploring new avenues in my art.The very successful Supermodel and abstract series will continue to develop.A new studio in Wonersh is up and running and I am looking to create more conceptual pieces there.The studio in Kingston used for landscape and Supermodels. Living"the life". Exciting.
