Celebs tee-am up for ISPS Handa World Invitational Pro-am

Actor James Nesbitt will join Niall Horan at this year’s ISPS Handa World Invitational Pro-am at Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort where a host of star names will be on show for what promises to be a fun and free day out for all the family.

Pro-am day at Galgorm is always a great opportunity for autograph hunters to get up close to some of their favourite sporting celebrities and stars of the screen. Many of Northern Ireland’s household names will take to the championship course in a team format alongside their touring professionals.

Star of the screen Nesbitt is no stranger to the golf course and has always been a great supporter of sport in general in Ireland when not on-set filming his latest TV show or movie. It is the first time work schedules and commitments have allowed the Ballymena native to return home and play in his first Pro-am at Galgorm.

“Pro-am day at Galgorm is always great fun, the players are so relaxed and enjoy the interaction with the crowds and other players,” explains Ross Oliver, Director of Golf at Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort.

“We are thrilled the likes of James Nesbitt and rugby legend Tommy Bowe are able to join us this year for the curtain raiser to the new ISPS Handa World Invitational Men | Women. They will be joined by many of our long-time supporters and ambassadors such as Pat Jennings, Oisin McConville, Michael McKillop and others.”

For years many of the Ulster and Ireland rugby stars such as Stephen Ferris and Rory Best have supported events at Galgorm and this year Bowe will be on show at the Ballymena venue on Wednesday 14th August.

Tournament Presenting Sponsor and Modest! Golf founder Horan will also be joining the celebrities for the Pro-am. Horan is lined up to play alongside Leona Maguire, one of a growing stable of players managed by Modest!

In a special gesture for tournament week, Horan and the team at Modest! have made Pro-am day free to enter.

“The whole ethos of this tournament through ISPS Handa is to demonstrate equality, opportunity and give something back. It was an easy decision to make the fun Pro-am free for everyone to come and enjoy at special day at Galgorm,” explained Mark McDonnell, Director Modest! Golf.

“We are delighted to have such a great line-up for the Pro-am. There is always a great buzz around the venue during tournament week, especially at the Pro-am and we look forward to welcoming fans from around Northern Ireland as they get the chance to see some of their heroes in action.”
