Appeal after man shot in Kensington

Merseyside Police are currently investigating after a man self-presented at the University of Aintree Hospital in the early hours of this morning (4th July) with suspected gunshot wounds.

Officers were called by hospital staff raising concerns for the victim who arrived at hospital just before 12.30am.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was treated for gunshot wounds to his knee.

Detective Inspector Mike Dalton said: “After speaking with the victim, we believe that the incident actually happened on the evening of 3rd July between 11.30pm and midnight near an alleyway off Romer Road, Liverpool.

"The victim, who was riding a bike and had a dog with him at the time, was approached by two men, one on foot and one on a bike. Here, we believe he was then shot.

“Officers are currently working with the victim as well as undertaking forensic, CCTV and house to house enquiries around the area of Romer Road between Kensington and Phillimore Road to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

“Anyone that witnessed the incident or has any information to help us with our continued investigations to find those responsible should DM @MerPolCC or call 101.”
