Appeal following assault in Bold Street

Detectives investigating an assault in Liverpool City Centre are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help with their investigation.

It was reported a 19-year-old man had his left ear cut open with a piece of glass at an apartment block on Bold Street in the early hours of Saturday, 2 February at around 7.25am.  An ambulance attended at the scene and he was taken for treatment in hospital where he received stitches to his left ear.

Forensic examination of the scene is taking place, witnesses are being spoken to and CCTV opportunities are being explored.  Bold Street was closed as investigations took place and the road was later re-opened.

Inspector Damien Bates said:  "This was a nasty assault with the victim receiving an injury to his ear.  We are constantly working alongside our partners and we will continue to educate, enforce, and act on any information given to us, to make the streets safer.

"I appeal to anyone who has any information in relation to the incident to contact police so we can find the person responsible and bring them to justice."
