Appeal following assault in Bootle

Following an assault in North Park, Hornby Road, on Sunday, 21 July, detectives are now treating this incident as targeted.

Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses after reports a 21-year-old man was assaulted in Bootle.

Officers were called to North Park, Hornby Road at around 2.30pm today (Sunday 21 July).

On arrival they found a man who was bleeding from a number of wounds to his body, including his chest, abdomen, head, buttocks, legs, hands and arms. The injuries are believed to have been caused by a knife.

The man is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital where his condition is described as serious but not life threatening.

An investigation is underway including house-to-house, witness and CCTV enquiries. A scene is in place to allow for a forensic examination with road closures and parts of North Park closed off and partial closure to Knowsley Road and Stanley Road.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with any information that may help the investigation to come forward.
