At around 12.20pm, it was reported that a male offender dressed in all black clothing and wearing a balaclava and gloves had entered the Old Roundabout Convenience Store on Hillside Avenue. The offender made threats to the shop assistant before making off with a quantity of cash in the direction of Primrose Drive.

The victim was uninjured but left shaken by the incident.

An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Detective Inspector Jackie Guinness said: “A number of enquiries are being carried out in the area and I would ask anyone with information on this robbery to please contact us.

“Thankfully, no weapons were seen or used however this must have been an incredibly distressing experience for the victim, who was simply carrying out his job. Hillside Avenue is a busy residential area and I would ask anyone with any CCTV, dashcam footage or information that may be able to assist the investigation to please get in touch.”
