Wallasey this evening (Monday, 22 July 2019).

Officers were called to Fell Street at around 7.30pm, following a report that a man had sustained stab wounds during an incident at a flat. The 25-year-old victim was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment for injuries to his legs and face, which are not believed to be life threatening.

CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries are ongoing and detectives are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident, or who has any information which may assist the investigation to contact them.

Chief Inspector Chris Joughin, said: "Enquiries are currently underway to establish exactly what happened in the flat, and we believe that there may have been two offenders involved in the attack, who were seen to leave the block of flats on bicycles following the incident.

"When someone takes it upon themselves to use a knife they understand the possible consequences of their actions and I would urge anyone who could help us identify those responsible to come forward so that we can take positive action."
