CCTV appeal following assault and robbery in Wirral taxi

News   •   Apr 25, 2019 08:41 BST

Detectives investigating an assault and robbery in a Wirral taxi are issuing two images of men we wish to speak to.

At around 5.35am on Sunday 7 April, a taxi driver who picked up a fare from Gorsey Lane in Poulton reported that he had asked two male passengers to leave due to them behaving erratically.

The taxi driver was assaulted, sustaining minor injuries, and had money stolen, before the men ran off on Poulton Road, in the direction of Central Park, Wallasey.

Detective Inspector Laura Lamping said: "We think the two men pictured may have information to assist this investigation. If you recognise them, let us know.

"This was an unprovoked assault of a taxi driver going about his business. Although his injuries were thankfully not more serious, this would have been a distressing experience, and we will act on all information to bring those responsible to justice."
