CCTV image issued after robbery at Birkenhead bookmakers

We have issued a CCTV still of a man following an armed robbery at a bookmakers in Birkenhead on 4 February.

At around 7pm, a man entered Betfred bookmakers on Princes Pavement and threatened a member of staff while holding a knife. He stole cash, and made off on foot. Staff were left shaken but thankfully unhurt.

We have issued a CCTV image of a man detectives believe could have information that may assist their enquiries into the incident.

Detective Inspector Paul Parry said: "The member of staff was thankfully unhurt but was understandably left extremely distressed by their ordeal.

“We have provided support to the victim as they come to terms with the effect of this man’s despicable actions, and for the sake of the victim and the wider public we are determined to bring the offender to justice.

"I would appeal to anyone who recognises the man in the image or who has any information about the incident itself to come forward.

"I want to assure all bookmakers and other businesses that we will continue to work with them to advise on the best security measures that can be taken, and will do everything possible to identify the offender in this case.”
