Grand National Festival 2019 hailed a success

This year's policing operation at the Aintree Festival has been hailed a success and the force would like to thank the thousands of race-goers for their behaviour throughout.

Each day has seen a great atmosphere with fantastic crowds and today was no exception.

Event Commander, Superintendent Louise Harrison said: "Grand National Day is always the busiest of the three and we’re really glad that this year’s festival ended on a high, with everyone having had a safe and enjoyable time.

"Despite the high number of race-goers there has only been seven arrests on the course and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, including those who worked during the festival, for helping to make this a safe and enjoyable occasion."

“I would remind everyone who may be continuing celebrations this evening to stay safe, drink responsibly and have a great time.”

Seven people were arrested on suspicion of offences including drunk and disorderly behaviour, possession of counterfeit currency, public order offences and section 47 assault.
