Man arrested in connection with unexplained death of woman in Prenton

A man has been arrested following the unexplained death of a 63-year-old woman in Prenton this afternoon (Wednesday, 25 September).

Emergency services were called to an address in West Park Gardens at around 11.10am to a report of the death of a woman. Paramedics gave the woman medical assistance however she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder at the scene and has been taken to a local police station for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Wilson said: "An investigation has been launched however we are in the very early stages and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

“Officers remain in the area and will be carrying out forensic and house-to-house enquiries. A cordon is currently in place at the scene.

"A Home Office post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death and next of kin have been informed.”
