Murder appeal: Appeal for witnesses who may have seen black Ford Fiesta car in area

Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Liverpool last night, Thursday 7th February, are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a black Ford Fiesta car being driven in the area.

Emergency services were called to Holy Cross Close, Liverpool city centre, at around 8pm, to reports of shots being fired. On arrival, officers found a 34 year-old man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The scene has been cordoned off for forensic examination and witnesses from the area are being spoken to. CCTV from the area is also being examined.

The black car was seen in the area close to the scene of the shooting. A similar vehicle was found burnt out on nearby Summer Seat in Vauxhall at 8.15pm.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Warlow said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw a black Ford Fiesta car in the around Holy Cross Close at 8pm last night or who saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us as a matter of urgency.

“I want to reassure the public that and that we will thoroughly investigate any information given to us so we can put anyone who carries guns on our streets behind bars and would appeal to anyone who may have seen the incident itself, or who has any information about it, to please get in contact.”

Note – At this stage of the investigation, this incident is not being linked to an early injury shooting in Prenton.
