Murder investigation launched after man stabbed in Kirkby

Merseyside Police have today (7th July) launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed on Broad Lane, Kirkby this afternoon.

Officers were called to Broad Lane at around 12:50pm after calls were received stating that a man had been stabbed. The man was taken to hospital where unfortunately, despite the best efforts of paramedics, he passed away as a result of his injuries.

His next of kin have been informed and we are working closely with them at this difficult time.

No arrests have currently been made and road closures are in place on Britonside Ave/Pinfold Crescent as well as Broad Lane whilst Officers conduct further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Warlow said: “This is a very sad incident in which we are only in the very early stages of investigating. Therefore we are urgently appealing for anyone with information, no matter how small, to come and speak to us.

“Someone knows the person responsible and we need that person to come forward.

“We’re currently looking at CCTV as well as conducting forensic analysis and house to house enquiries but would appreciate any one with info, dash cam or mobile footage to DM @MerPolCC or call 101 quoting log 502 of 7th July.”
