Officers carry out 'impact day' in Walton together with partners following burglaries

We have today (Friday, 11 January) carried out a day of activity near County Road, Walton in response to recent burglaries in the area.

Working together with partners from Liverpool City Council, local policing officers offered safety advice to residents and carried out street cleans and searches.

‘Kitchen in the Community’ were also on hand to offer hot drinks and soup to local residents and the Mini Police carried out safety checks on residents doors as well as offering security advice.

Local Policing Inspector, Graeme Rooney said: “Following a number of reported burglaries in the area, we carried out today’s activity to reassure local residents that our communities are safe places to live and to offer security and prevention advice. With the help of teams from the council, we were able to clean up the area, including grids, which resulted in the recovery of four knives.

“Mini Police from Gladwys Street School did an excellent job testing door handles and advising residents how to keep their homes safe and Kitchen in the Community, a converted RV that runs cookery classes for youths supplied hot drinks and food to locals.

"We understand how distressing being a victim of a burglary can be and these incidents will not be tolerated by Merseyside Police. I would encourage members of the public to take small, but important steps to help minimise the appeal for opportune burglars to strike.

"I would urge local residents to check their front doors, windows and garage doors are locked to prevent becoming easy targets, and ensure your car keys and valuables are safely out of sight. We would encourage people keep an eye on any vulnerable or elderly friends, family members or neighbours.

“We want to encourage the public to keep giving us information, so that we can act on it and ensure the area is a safe and happy environment, rid of crime."
