APPEAL UPDATE: Police investigating after man shot in Kirkby this evening

Officers are continuing to appeal to the public following a shooting reported yesterday evening (5th July).

The victim, who is reported as being in a stable condition, received a single gun shot wound consistent with a shotgun and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains at this time. 

We are currently analysing CCTV as well as conducting forensic analysis at the Windmill Pub this morning (6th July). The public should also expect to see increased patrols in the surrounding area and we encourage any witnesses to come forward and speak to us directly.

In addition to this, anyone that was passing the area at the time of the event and has dash cam or mobile phone footage should contact us @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact @CrimestoppersUK anonymously.

Merseyside Police are currently investigating after a man was shot near the Windmill Pub, Kirkby, this evening (5th July).

The incident was reported to us at 11pm when the victim, a man in his 30s, is believed to have been shot in the leg by an unknown offender.

The man has been taken to hospital where his injuries are being assessed by hospital staff.

Chief Inspector Phil Thompson said: “The investigation is its early stages and we are doing everything we can to establish the full circumstances of the incident and bring the offender/s to justice.
