Detectives investigating the burglary of a disabled 85-year-old woman have issued CCTV footage in the hope of identifying a man they are keen to speak with.

At 09:30hrs on Friday, 27 November, police were called to reports of a distraction burglary at a residential address on Dagenham Avenue, Dagenham.

A man knocked on the door and told the woman that he was checking windows on behalf of the council.

The woman let him in and was asked to move her wheelchair into her bedroom so that he could check her windows for faults.

Curious to know what he was doing, she went to her hallway to find him going through her side cabinet. When she asked him to leave he grabbed her purse containing £35 and ran out of the house.

CCTV in Dagenham Avenue captured a man matching the description of the suspect.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who recognises the suspect. He is described as a white man, aged in his mid 20s, wearing a grey hooded top, blue jeans and black trainers with white stripes.
