Police have released CCTV footage and a still of two men they want to speak to in connection with an investigation into the theft of a cash box from a delivery truck.

Police were called on Wednesday, 17 June to reports of theft from a lorry parked on London Road, Croydon.

The delivery driver parked his lorry on London Road and was delivering food and wines to a nearby shop. Whilst away, he left his lorry camera on and the theft was recorded.

Moments later, two elderly men approached the truck. One of the men pulled out a pair of pliers from his jacket pocket. He then started to work on the driver's door lock trying to get in.

Having failed to break in, he then walked around to the passenger door, worked on the lock and gained entry.

Once inside, he opened the driver's door to allow his elderly partner who was wearing a high visibility jacket and sandals to climb in. He then pulled out a pair of bolt croppers from his shopping bag to release the cash box which contained more than £1,000.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information about the theft to come forward. Call police on 101 quoting image 185438 (flat cap) and 185440 (yellow jacket) or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
