Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are appealing for witnesses and information after a 30-year-old man died following a collision with a van this morning.
Police were called at 05:05hrs on Saturday, 1 August to reports of a pedestrian in collision with a van in Kingsland Road, near the Jeffery Museum, 136 Kingsland Rd, E2.
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and found the 30-year-old male pedestrian suffering from critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 05:17hrs.
Next-of-kin have now been informed. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
The driver of the van involved - a 37-year-old man - stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been taken to an east London police station for questioning.
Temporary road closures have now been lifted.
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage are investigating and would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision.
