Detectives are appealing for information after two men broke into a house and cut jewellery off a woman's neck.
In the early hours of Monday, 20 February a married couple in their late 50s were asleep on the ground floor of their address South Park Drive, Ilford, when they awoke to find two men in their room.
One of the men [suspect 1] put his foot on the woman's chest, preventing her from getting up, while the other man [suspect 2] stood over her husband and pointed a knife at his throat.
Suspect 1 then took out a pair of pliers and cut the woman's necklace off. He then indicated for her to hand over her earrings and ring, which she did.
The suspects were then disturbed by other occupants residing in the property who came to investigate the noise coming from the downstairs room.
The men fled the scene via the back garden.
Police were called at 02:57hrs by the couple's 20-year-old granddaughter who was also in property at the time of the incident. Officers attended and assisted by the dog unit they searched the garden and surrounding area.
Suspect 1 is described as a white man, aged between 25 and 30-years old and suspect 2 is described as a black man, also aged between 25 and 30-years old.
Both were wearing dark clothing and had most of their face covered.
No arrests have been made and enquires continue.
Detective Constable Sophie Mostyn, from Redbridge CID, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the victims and it has left them extremely distressed. We are determined to catch those responsible and put them before the courts. We'd appeal for anyone with any information to contact us as a matter of priority."
