Appeal following collision in Wandsworth

Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses after a car failed to stop at the scene of a collision in Wandsworth.

At around 22:25hrs on Tuesday, 24 January, a BMW was in collision with a lamp-post and a number of trees in Trinity Road, SW18.

The passenger in the BMW - a 19-year-old woman - was taken to hospital where her condition is serious but stable.

The driver of the car - a 28-year-old man - was also taken to hospital having sustained minor injuries. He has not been arrested.

Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating. They believe the BMW was being driven at speed close to a white Mercedes, possibly an AMG model, at the time of the collision.

The driver of the Mercedes did not stop at the scene. The Mercedes may not have been directly involved in the collision, and as such the driver is sought as a potentially significant witness.

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation should call detectives from the Collision Investigation Unit at Merton on 020 8543 5157 or via 101. Alternatively you can tweet @MetCC with any information.
