Appeal following commercial robbery

Detectives from Barking and Dagenham Borough investigating a commercial robbery have issued CCTV stills of two youths they continue to appeal to identify and speak to in connection with the incident.

On Sunday, 23 October, police were called at around 13:55hrs to reports of a commercial robbery at A1 Cash and Carry on Broad Street in Dagenham.

Three suspects entered the store. As one of the suspects pushed his way behind the front counter to take a packet of cigarettes, another suspect took a drink from the fridge and a third suspect grabbed bags of sweets. The shop keeper pushed the suspects out of the shop and as he did so, an altercation developed.

The front door of the shop was broken by being kicked several times and the victim sustained a cut to his shin.

One of the suspects was believed to be in possession of a firearm.

Two suspects officer wish to identify are:

Suspect 2 [ref: 229741] described as a black teenager of medium build and 5ft 6ins tall; he was wearing a dark top, blue jeans, a belt with a silver square buckle and dark trainers.

Suspect 3 [ref: 229742] described as a black teenager of medium build and 5ft 2ins tall. He was wearing a blue coat with white buttons over a grey long sleeved top, grey tracksuit trousers, trainers and grey and black gloves.

Detective Constable Nigel Griffiths, the officer in the case for Barking and Dagenham CID, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise those shown in the footage or the stills we released today, or anyone who witnessed the incident.”
