Police in Croydon have released CCTV footage of two men they would like to trace following an assault.
On 10 December 2016 police were called shortly after 13:30hrs to Arnull's Road, SW16 to reports of a 46-year-old man assaulted.
CCTV cameras caught the moment two suspects, riding a stolen motorcycle and dressed in black crash helmets and balaclavas, drove up and down the road. One of the suspects then got off the motorbike and, armed with a screwdriver, tried to steal a three-wheeled motorbike that was parked in the street.
The owner of the bike ran out of his house carrying a pair of nunchucks and challenged the two men. One of the suspects was able to take the nunchucks off him and he was assaulted, causing injuries to his hand. Two neighbours came out to assist the victim. Both of the suspects ran off towards Gibson Hill abandoning the motorbike they were riding in the street.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect 1 is described as wearing a dark coloured jacket with a red logo on the back, black trousers with a blue line down the side, black trainers with white soles and gloves.
Suspect 2 is described as wearing a dark jacket with grey at the top, dark trousers, black trainers with white soles and a helmet with a Nike tick on the back.
Detective Constable Ania Casey, investigating officer from Croydon, said: "If the owner had not locked his motorbike with a heavy chain, his bike may have been taken in seconds. Those extra minutes were sufficient enough to alert the owner and his neighbours to deter the two suspects.
"I would urge anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to call officers via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
