Appeal following fatal collision

News   •   May 11, 2016 00:04 BST

Roads and Transport Policing officers are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in Battersea on Tuesday, 9 May.

Police were called at around 14:15hrs that day to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle in Vicarage Crescent, near the junction with Lombard Road, SW11.

Officers, London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance all attended but the rider, a 37-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Whilst next of kin are aware, formal identification has not yet taken place. A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of the collision.

At this early stage it is believed the rider was travelling south along Vicarage Crescent when he came off his motorcycle.

The bike then collided with a HGV and subsequently a van, whilst the rider remained in the road.

The drivers of the van and HGV stopped at the scene and have assisted officers with their enquiries.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information are asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8543 5157.

There have been no arrests.
