Appeal following fatal collision, Croydon

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Croydon.

Officers were called at approximately 20:15hrs on Tuesday, 4 August following reports of a motorcycle rider in collision with a car in Old Farleigh Road, near the junction with Beech Way, South Croydon.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man believed aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene at 20:53hrs.

Next of kin have been informed.

At this early stage it is understood the deceased was riding his motorcycle towards the rear of a group of up to seven other bikes. He has come off his bike and then collided with an oncoming car - a dark coloured Mercedes.

The driver stopped at the scene.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Catford will investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact them on 020 8285 1574.

No arrests, enquiries continue.
