Appeal following Lewisham assault

Officers from Lewisham are appealing for information and witnesses following an assault which left the victim in a critical condition.

At around 01:40hrs on Wednesday, 2 November, police were called to reports of a man assaulted in New Cross Road near the junction with Deptford High Street, Deptford.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. The victim - a 39-year-old man - was taken to hospital suffering a serious head injury. His condition is critical.

Detectives from Lewisham CID have established that the incident followed a dispute in the street, resulting in the victim being punched and falling to the ground.

There has been no arrest at this stage.

Officers have released a CCTV still of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the assault. He is shown on CCTV near to the location of the incident.
