Detectives investigating a car-jacking where the victim was threatened with a large knife have released a CCTV still of a man they want to trace.

The robbery took place on Bluebell Avenue in Newham on 19 November 2016.

The victim, a 22-year-old man, was driving along the road just after midnight when a group of three males, who were standing near a railway bridge, blocked the road.

One of the suspects jumped on the bonnet of the Volkswagen Passat and another opened the driver’s door.

The suspect produced a large machete-style knife and threatened the victim, who was then dragged out of his vehicle and his wallet and mobile phone stolen.

The suspects got into the car and sped off.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue. Officers are now releasing an image of a man they believe could have vital information about the offence.

If you recognise the man in the picture, or you have information about this incident, please call police on 101, Tweet @MetCC or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you would like to remain anonymous.
