Appeal following stabbing in Merton

Detectives from Merton are appealing for information and witnesses following a stabbing.

Police were called at 20:41hrs on Sunday, 1 May to reports that a 31-year-old man had been stabbed outside the King's Arms pub at the junction of Upper Green West and London Road, Mitcham.

The victim was taken to hospital, where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Officers believe that a number of people witnessed the incident. The assault is believed to be linked to an altercation over a game of football in the pub's garden.
