Appeal following stabbing in Peckham

Detectives in Southwark are appealing for information about a stabbing in Peckham which left a man with serious injuries.

Police were called to Rye Lane, SE15 just before 19:00hrs on Tuesday, 3 January to reports of a stabbing.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man suffering from a stab wound to his chest.

The man, aged 26, was taken to a south London hospital. He remains in a serious but stable condition - his injuries are not life threatening.

Enquiries are ongoing, and officers want to hear from witnesses or anyone who has information about the incident and the events leading up to it.

DC Rebecca Whiteley from Southwark Police said: “This attack happened at a busy time of day when people were making their way home from work, and it is fortunate that the victim was not more seriously hurt.

“We are still trying to establish exactly where the stabbing occurred, and we would urge anyone who has any information that could assist us in our investigation to get in touch.”

No arrests have been made.
