Appeal following theft of moped

Officers in Wandsworth Borough have released CCTV footage of two men they would like to speak to in connection with a moped theft in Putney.

Police were called shortly before 08:40hrs on Saturday, 8 October following reports of the theft which is believed to have occurred at 21:40hrs on Friday, 7 October outside Oxford Road.

Officers attended and spoke to a 54-year-old man who stated that he had parked his moped outside his house. 

CCTV outside the property caught two opportunistic thieves ride past on a moped, break the steering lock on the parked moped and ride off.

The suspects are described as:

Suspect 1 [ref: 227387] is described as a white man, 5ft 8ins tall and aged in his 20s. He was wearing Nike TN trainers, jeans, a jacket with lighter coloured sleeves, a black open face helmet and gloves. He had a small shoulder bag hanging from his left side.

Suspect 2 [ref: 227388] is described as a black man, 5ft 7ins tall and aged in his 20s. He was wearing Huarache Nike trainers, trousers with reflectors on his shins, a light coloured jacket with a fur lined hood, a black open face helmet and gloves. He was carrying a light coloured rucksack.

PC Brian Munive, from Wandsworth borough, said: "We are keen to identify the two men in the CCTV footage so we can speak to them about the incident. We would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us."

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
