Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a violent robbery that left a vulnerable woman requiring hospital treatment.

In the early afternoon of Friday 15 December 2017, the 45-year-old victim was approached by the suspect on Ramilles Close, near Brixton Hill. He demanded that she give him her money before repeatedly stamping on her arm and head.

The man left her lying seriously injured on the pavement, having stolen no more than £20.

The woman was taken to a south London hospital where she received emergency treatment for multiple injuries including a fractured skull and an arm broken in several places. She is still recovering from her injuries.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black man. He was wearing a dark hooded top, a shiny bottle green gilet and dark coloured tracksuit trousers.

Police are releasing a CCTV still of the man sought - this is unfortunately a low resolution image, but officers are hopeful that it may help to identify the suspect.

Detectives know that the attack was witnessed by a number of people, many of whom filmed the assault before sharing it on social media. They would like to speak with anyone who saw the assault buy is yet to come forward.

Detective Constable Nicky Dixon, from Lambeth CID, said: "This was a brutal attack of a vulnerable woman in broad daylight. She was unable to defend herself and was left semi-conscious on the ground with serious injuries which required emergency treatment.

"We know the assault was witnessed by people who have not come forward and I would urge them to speak with us.

"This is man is a danger to the public and needs to be caught - someone knows who he is and I appeal to you directly for your help."
