[Images of two men police wish to identify]

Detectives from Wandsworth Borough investigating a serious assault have issued CCTV footage of two people they wish to identify and speak to in connection with the incident.

On Thursday, 4 August police were called at around 17:00hrs to reports of a stabbing near the HSBC bank on Tooting High Street. A 21-year-old man sustained stab injuries.

The victim was outside the main entrance to Sainsbury’s on Tooting High Street, near Tooting Broadway Underground Station when he was attacked by a group of men armed with knives.

As he was stabbed, he was able to grab one of the knives from a suspect. He threw the knife away and ran towards the underground station, where he took a tube to Tooting Bec and sought shelter in a fast food restaurant on Upper Tooting Road.

The London Ambulance Service attended and treated the man for his injuries. He was taken to a south London hospital and later discharged.

The suspects are described as:

Suspect 1 [ref: 224680] is described as a large black man, aged in his early 20s. He was wearing a black hooded jacket over a light coloured top, a dark blue baseball cap, black trousers and black trainers.

Suspect 2 [ref: 224679] is described as a black man, also aged in his early 20s. He was wearing a dark blue shirt, dark coloured trousers and dark trainers.

Detective Constable Daniel Babbs, from Wandsworth CID, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the two men shown in the footage or the still released, or anyone who witnessed the incident.”

Anyone that can assist the investigation is asked to contact CID via 101. To give information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org
