Attempted armed robbery in Plumstead

Detectives investigating an attempted armed robbery in Plumstead have issued CCTV stills of a man they are keen to trace in connection with the incident.

On Tuesday 1 December, police were called following a report of an attempted armed robbery at a convenience store in Waverley Crescent SE18.

The suspect walked into the shop at 16:35hrs with his hood up and his face partially covered and approached the front counter. He was armed with a handgun and demanded money but was disturbed and made off empty handed.

The suspect is described as black male, wearing a bright red hooded top, a black flat cap and a scarf. He had with him a white carrier bag with a logo saying 'THINK' on it. He made off in the direction of Waverley Road/Brewery Road.

Detectives from the Met's Flying Squad are investigating and are keen to hear from anyone who knows the identity of the man.
