CCTV appeal after assault in Forest Gate

Police in Newham borough have released CCTV footage after a man was assaulted in east London.

On Saturday 24 September 2016, police were called shortly after 03:00hrs to Romford Road, Forest Gate. A 38-year-old man was hit in the mouth and further kicked when he had fallen down

CCTV on Romford Road caught the moment the suspect punched the victim in the face following an argument outside a club. When the man fell backwards, he was further kicked behind a car.

The victim was treated for his injuries. He received cuts to the head.

The suspect [image ref 223547] then made off with a limp. He is described as a white man in his mid 40s, 5ft 10ins tall with a bald head. He was seen wearing a black leather jacket, dark blue trousers and dark shoes.

Police Constable James Brevitt, investigating officer from Newham, said:

"This is a brutal attack and has left the victim traumatised. We are keen to identify the man in the CCTV footage so we can speak to him about the incident. We would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us."

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
