CCTV appeal following arson attack on Finchley bakery

Detectives from Barnet have today, Wednesday, 18 May, released CCTV footage of a suspect they wish to identify and speak with in connection with an arson attack on a Finchley bakery.

Police were called at 05:30hrs on Monday, 14 March to Tavazo bakery, Ballards Lane, Finchley following reports of a fire and criminal damage.

The fire was believed to have started just before 05:00hrs. London Fire Brigade had attended and used eight pumps to extinguish the fire. Smoke alarms were in place but covered up so did not work.

CCTV footage captured the suspect approaching the rear door of the premises, opening it and then walking around dousing the floor with a flammable liquid from a black fuel container.

The suspect is described as wearing a distinctively patterned crash helmet, jacket trousers, gloves and black and white trainers. [image ref 212733]

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the suspect shown on the CCTV issued today.
