Counter terrorism training exercise

Police training exercise to take place at Canary Wharf tonight (Monday, 28 November).

A training exercise to test the response of police and partners to a terrorist attack is being held in Canary Wharf tonight, Monday, 28 November.

The exercise will start at 23:00hrs and finish at 05:00hrs on Tuesday, 29 November, when the area will be returned to business as usual.

The west entrance to the London Underground station will be closed during the exercise.

This will be one of many exercises held regularly across the country and is not in response to any specific threat.

We have briefed local businesses and partners on what we are doing and why.

Additional officers and stewards will also be out and about on the night to reassure any concerned members of the public as there will be elements of the exercise that will be noisy.

The exercise itself will not be visible as it will take place in a contained area of the shopping centre while it is closed, but the public may see extra police teams entering the area during the night and hear noise from firearms being used during the course of the exercise.
