Fatal collision on King's Road in Chelsea

Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a fatal collision in Kensington and Chelsea.

Police were called to King's Road at the junction with Sydney Street, near Chelsea Town Hall, at 09:42hrs on Thursday, 26 January to reports of a road traffic collision. 

Officers attended and found a car in collision with a moped.

The London Ambulance Service attended and treated the 30-year-old motorcyclist at the scene. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. 

The 47-year-old driver of the car stopped at the scene. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taken to a west London police station. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in early July.

Detectives from the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating.
